About VAI

In a recent article in OPERA NEWS magazine, VAI was called "One of the classiest of the classical home entertainment companies." Since its inception, in 1983, VAI has been dedicated to preserving the great performances of the past. More recently, the company has been involved with contemporary artists. Recordings and videos of such visible performers as Catherine Malfitano, Piotr Anderszewski, Francesco Libetta and Jennifer Larmore have broadened VAI's chronological reach while maintaining the highest standards of performance.

What is common to all releases in the VAI catalog, whether an early acoustic recording or a sizzling digital serving of cabaret tunes from Miss Malfitano, is a level of quality that has been maintained by simply presenting the best of the best. This is our mandate; this is what our customers have come to expect; this is what they will continue to receive.

In keeping with recent technological advances, VAI will be fully embracing the DVD medium for past and future video releases. Already available are complete operas featuring such artists as Joan Sutherland, James Morris and Beverly Sills. A recital by Jennifer Larmore in VAI's IN PERFORMANCE series and a stunning compilation from the Bell Telephone Hour archives featuring some of the greatest singers of the 20th century, are also available.

VAI Audio's designation as the official label of the superb Miami International Piano Festival of Discovery will bring to music lovers everywhere some of the most exciting keyboard talents to be heard today. Initial offerings of live recitals by pianists Francesco Libetta and Pietro De Maria are just a sample of what lies ahead for connoisseurs of piano literature.

We hope you will browse through our offerings and we invite your questions, comments, or suggestions.
