Pilar Lorengar in Recital (DVD)

The Spanish soprano Pilar Lorengar (1928-1996) graced the world’s operatic stages with her bright, gleaming voice and captivating presence in a wide variety of roles, particularly the heroines of Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, and Puccini. This DVD tribute presents Lorengar in a live 1988 recital in her native city of Zaragoza, with Miguel Zanetti at the piano, plus bonus selections: performances of arias from opera films of Così fan tutte, Lohengrin, Manon Lescaut, and Don Carlo; and live performances of the "Libera me” section of the Verdi Requiem and the Zarzuela aria “Canción de la Paloma” from El Barberillo de Lavapies.
